Setting the scene for "Through the Wringer"(2020) by t s Beall, courtesy of the artist. Inspired by the history of Glasgow’s steamies (or wash houses), "Through the Wringer" was a series of mobile washing events including traditional songs and stories gathered from interviews conducted by the artist with healthcare workers and women whose care burdens increased during the COVID-19 pandemic.


 

Memory of Water is an artist-led project exploring post-industrial waterfront heritage in the context of community development and urban planning in six European cities.


Memory of Water (2018–2020) was an artist-led project exploring post-industrial waterfront heritage in the context of community development and urban planning. Local and international artists worked with citizens, community groups, politicians, urban planners and other stakeholders to create artistic interventions and inclusive events in Belgium, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Scotland and Sweden. In this podcast mini-series, Artistic Director Mary Conlon meets with the artists and curators who worked in six European cities to reflect on this Creative Europe cooperation. The artists are Ira Brami, t s Beall, Mary Conroy, Jonas Myrstrand, Siegfried Vynck and Iwona Zając. The curators are Inês Cavaco, Hamish Rhodes, Roman Sebastyański and Agnieszka Wołodźko.
