Extending Practice/Celebrating Place was a two-year project organised and managed by Chrysalis Arts Development. ‍

Extending Practice / Celebrating Place took place between 2010 and 2012. It was developed by Chrysalis Arts with support from North Yorkshire County Council, and awarded commissions to ten North Yorkshire artists, working in different artforms, to create new work celebrating aspects of North Yorkshire life, heritage, landscape or culture over a two year period. A mentoring programme supported each of the commissioned artists, offering access to advice and support from well known specialists from throughout the UK. The mentoring programme was extended to include a further thirteen artists. Outcomes of the project ranged from publications, new musical compositions, theatre performances and recordings, as well as the creation of new work by visual artists and makers. Please download our full project report for more information on each of the artists involved.
