Rambles with Nature is a new body of work exploring the hedgerow from many different angles, through many different art-forms and with many different collaborators. Aside from artists Sheila has been working with illustrators, musicians, ecologists, gardeners, wildlife enthusiasts, foragers and so on.

Together they have been undertaking a (metaphoric) ‘Ramble' stemming from, or focusing on, a particular piece of hedgerow - resulting in a range of art forms - short films, audio-work, text, and performance.

DICTIONARY DEFINITION OF RAMBLE:

  • To move about aimlessly.

  • To walk about casually or for pleasure.

  • To follow an irregularly winding course of motion or growth.

  • To speak or write at length and with many digressions.

The Hedgerow is the starting point or 'spine' of Rambles with Nature. A place to set out from or disappear into, and a place to explore - both literally and metaphorically.

In-between. On the edge. In the middle. At the border.

Rooted and breathing. Changing with the seasons. Encompassed in an outdoor place.

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England
